Of interest. Saw this at TED, I thought he was pretty interesting!
Funny times!
At TED… inspired. Some visioning:
Film moves us. Images link deeply into our consciousness and inspire us to generate feelings of closeness, understanding and empathy. We are surrounded and inundated by connection in a way that is private and hard to avoid. When we catch ourselves empathizing with “the villain” it happens in quiet darkness. We are essentially alone to question why?
We want to encourage the question. We want to look at the question, not turn away from the truth of our internal experience. Through film we are given the gift and opportunity to try on situations, viewpoints, species and people we may never experience in “real life”. We get to participate virtually, utilizing our human gifts of imagination and ideology to contemple our existence.
Generally people create change only when they are emotionally driven to do so. Parvati can utilize the experience of film to help people build visceral connections to what may have once been foreign and obscure. At the same time Parvati can “keep the question alive” through community endeavors, discussions and projects.
That’s it for now from TED-land.
